Connecting Google Ads & Manager (MCC) Accounts

3 min read · Last updated

Whether you manage a single store’s Google Ads account or run an agency Google Ads Manager Account (MCC) with dozens of sub-accounts, OneClick discovers your accessible hierarchy automatically.

Selecting a Client Account Under an MCC

In Google Ads, a Manager Account (MCC) is an administrative umbrella rather than an ad-serving account. Unless you intentionally use cross-account conversion tracking at the MCC level, conversion actions belong inside the 10-digit Client Account (xxx-xxx-xxxx) that actually runs your Shopping, Performance Max, or Search campaigns.

  1. Sign in to OneClick with the Google user that has Standard or Admin access to your MCC or client account.
  2. In the Select Google Ads Account list, locate your leaf Client Account (not the [Manager] umbrella row) and select it.
  3. Click Continue to create or verify your Shopify conversion actions inside that client account.

Troubleshooting Common Google Sign-In Issues

1. “Missing required Google Ads permissions” on Sign-In

When Google displays the OAuth consent screen, make sure you check the box granting Google Ads access before clicking Continue. If it was left unchecked:

  1. Open OneClick → Google Account in Shopify Admin.
  2. Click Reconnect Google Account, approve the Google Ads permission checkbox, and re-select your client account.

2. “My Google Ads account isn’t showing in the dropdown”

  • Verify you signed in with the exact @gmail.com or Google Workspace email listed under Google Ads → Admin → Access and security.
  • Confirm the Google Ads account has finished initial setup and is Active (canceled, draft, or unactivated Google Ads accounts cannot create new API conversion actions until reactivated in Google Ads).
  • Ensure your user role in Google Ads is Standard or Admin (Read-only and Email-only roles cannot create conversion actions).

3. Re-Authenticating After a Google Password Change

If you change your Google password or revoke third-party app permissions in your Google Security settings, your OAuth token expires. Simply open OneClick: Google Ads Tracking in Shopify Admin and click Reconnect Google Account — your existing conversion actions and storefront configuration remain intact.
